Our CEO Completed a School Renovation Project in Cambodia with University of Yamanashi

Takuto Ogawa, Representative Director and CEO of MAISEND Inc., has completed a renovation project for a public elementary school in Kampot Province, Cambodia, carried out together with the University of Yamanashi's Center for International Programs.

Background

While still a student in the University of Yamanashi's Faculty of Education, Ogawa took part in the university's short-term study program in Cambodia in August 2025 and visited Banyu Elementary School, a school with long-standing ties to the university. The school buildings were in serious disrepair: concrete floors had holes in nearly every classroom, exposed rebar was visible along walkways, and the blackboards had deteriorated to the point of being hard to read. Learning that the local government had no budget for repairs, Ogawa took on the role of student project lead to launch a renovation initiative.

What was done

A crowdfunding campaign was launched to raise the funds needed for the renovation. The project was covered by several media outlets, including The Asahi Shimbun and the Yamanashi Nichinichi Shimbun. The on-site renovation work was completed around March 2026.
